Compare the2025 Mercedes EQE SedanVS 2025 Polestar 2

In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the EQE Sedan are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The Polestar 2 doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

Earlier warning of stopped traffic, traffic signals, dangerous road conditions, weather, or accidents, can keep driver's safer and prevent crashes. The EQE Sedan has Car-to-X Communication, a system that seamlessly communicates important warnings to the driver about impending danger, if they're available. The Polestar 2 doesn’t offer a system that can receive automated systems from infrastructure or other vehicles.

Both the EQE Sedan and the Polestar 2 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, front seat center airbag, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, post-collision automatic braking systems, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

The Mercedes EQE Sedan weighs 566 to 1030 pounds more than the Polestar 2. The NHTSA advises that heavier cars are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

There are over 12 times as many Mercedes dealers as there are Polestar dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the EQE Sedan’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Mercedes vehicles are better in initial quality than Polestar vehicles. With 110 fewer problems per 100 vehicles, JD Power ranks Mercedes higher than Polestar.

The EQE 350 4MATIC’s standard electric motors produces 18 lbs.-ft. more torque (564 vs. 546) than the Polestar 2’s electric motors. The EQE 500 4MATIC’s standard electric motors produces 87 lbs.-ft. more torque (633 vs. 546) than the Polestar 2’s electric motors. The AMG EQE’s standard electric motors produces 201 more horsepower (677 vs. 476) and 192 lbs.-ft. more torque (738 vs. 546) than the Polestar 2’s electric motors.

As tested in Motor Trend the AMG EQE electric motors is faster than the Polestar 2:

The EQE Sedan can travel longer on a full charge than the Polestar 2 on a full charge:

The EQE Sedan has a standard locking charge port which locks and unlocks with the power locks. The Polestar 2 doesn’t have a locking charge port. A locking charge port prevents tampering and damage.

For better stopping power the EQE Sedan’s brake rotors are larger than those on the Polestar 2:

The EQE Sedan AMG offers optional heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The Polestar 2 doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.

For better traction, the EQE Sedan has larger standard tires than the Polestar 2 (255/40R20 vs. 245/40R20). The AMG EQE’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Polestar 2 (F:265/40R20 & R:295/35R20 vs. 245/40R20).

The EQE Sedan’s optional 255/35R21 front and 285/30R21 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Polestar 2’s optional 40 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the EQE Sedan offers optional 21-inch wheels. The Polestar 2’s largest wheels are only 20-inches.

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires available on the EQE Sedan can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The Polestar 2 doesn’t offer run-flat tires.

The EQE Sedan has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The EQE Sedan’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The Polestar 2 doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

The EQE Sedan’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The Polestar 2 doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the EQE Sedan’s wheelbase is 15.2 inches longer than on the Polestar 2 (122.8 inches vs. 107.6 inches).

For better handling and stability, the average track (width between the wheels) on the EQE Sedan is 1.9 inches wider in the front and 1.8 inches wider in the rear than the track on the Polestar 2.

The AMG EQE handles at .99 G’s, while the Polestar 2 pulls only .85 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The AMG EQE executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 2.5 seconds quicker than the Polestar 2 (23.8 seconds @ .83 average G’s vs. 26.3 seconds @ .68 average G’s).

For better maneuverability, the EQE Sedan w/10° Rear Wheel Steering’s turning circle is 2.6 feet tighter than the Polestar 2’s (35.1 feet vs. 37.7 feet).

The design of the Mercedes EQE Sedan amounts to more than styling. The EQE Sedan has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .22 Cd. That is significantly lower than the Polestar 2 (.278) and many sports cars. A more efficient exterior helps keep the interior quieter and helps the EQE Sedan get better fuel mileage.

The EQE Sedan has 5 cubic feet more passenger volume than the Polestar 2 (101 vs. 96).

The EQE Sedan has .5 inches more front headroom, 4.3 inches more front shoulder room, 1 inch more rear headroom, 4.3 inches more rear legroom and 3.3 inches more rear shoulder room than the Polestar 2.

Pressing a button automatically lowers the EQE Sedan’s rear seats, to make changing between passengers and cargo easier. The Polestar 2 doesn’t offer automatic folding seats.

With its sedan body style, locking rear seatbacks and remote trunk release lockout, the EQE offers cargo security. The Polestar 2’s hatchback body style, non-lockable folding seat and non-lockable remote release defeat cargo security.

Unlike the driver-only memory system in the Polestar 2, the EQE Sedan has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The EQE Sedan’s standard easy entry and exit feature raises the steering wheel and glides the driver’s seat back, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. The Polestar 2 doesn’t offer an easy entry system.

The EQE Sedan offers an optional heads-up display that projects speed, navigation instruction and driver assistance information readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Polestar 2 doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

Heated windshield washer fluid is optional on the EQE Sedan to defrost the washer nozzles and quickly clear ice and frost from the windshield without scraping. The Polestar 2 doesn’t offer heated windshield washer fluid. Its standard heated washer nozzles will defrost the washer fluid but not the windshield.

The Polestar 2’s cornering lamps activate a lamp on the front corner when the turn signal is activated. The EQE Sedan’s optional adaptive cornering lights turn the actual headlight unit up to several degrees, depending on steering wheel angle and vehicle speed. This lights a significant distance into corners at any speed.

The EQE Sedan offers optional massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the Polestar 2.

The EQE Sedan’s Active Parking Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote Parking Assist will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The Polestar 2 doesn’t offer an automated parking system.

The EQE Sedan is available in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations. The Polestar 2 doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.
