Safety

The EQE Sedan has a standard front seat center airbag, which deploys between the driver and front passenger, protecting them from injuries caused by striking each other in serious side impacts. The e-tron GT doesn’t offer front seat center airbags.

The EQE Sedan’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The e-tron GT doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the EQE Sedan and the e-tron GT have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, post-collision automatic braking systems, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors and rear cross-path warning.

Warranty

There are over 25 percent more Mercedes dealers than there are Audi dealers, which makes it easier should you ever need service under the EQE Sedan’s warranty.

Reliability

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Mercedes vehicles are better in initial quality than Audi vehicles. With 59 fewer problems per 100 vehicles, JD Power ranks Mercedes higher than Audi.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Mercedes vehicles are more reliable than Audi With 30 fewer problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, J.D. Power ranks Mercedes higher than Audi.

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the EQE Sedan has larger standard tires than the e-tron GT (255/40R20 vs. 245/45R20).

The EQE Sedan’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the e-tron GT’s standard 45 series front tires.

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires available on the EQE Sedan can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The e-tron GT doesn’t offer run-flat tires.

Suspension and Handling

The EQE Sedan’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The e-tron GT doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the EQE Sedan’s wheelbase is 8.6 inches longer than on the e-tron GT (122.8 inches vs. 114.2 inches).

The AMG EQE handles at .99 G’s, while the S e-tron GT Prestige pulls only .92 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The AMG EQE executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver quicker than the S e-tron GT Prestige (23.8 seconds @ .83 average G’s vs. 24.5 seconds @ .79 average G’s).

For better maneuverability, the EQE Sedan w/10° Rear Wheel Steering’s turning circle is 3 feet tighter than the e-tron GT’s (35.1 feet vs. 38.1 feet).

Chassis

The design of the Mercedes EQE Sedan amounts to more than styling. The EQE Sedan has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .22 Cd. That is significantly lower than the e-tron GT (.26) and many sports cars. A more efficient exterior helps keep the interior quieter and helps the EQE Sedan get better fuel mileage.

As tested by Car and Driver, the interior of the EQE 320 4MATIC is quieter than the RS e-tron GT performance:

Passenger Space

The EQE Sedan has 1.9 inches more front headroom, 2.5 inches more front shoulder room, 1.5 inches more rear headroom, 6 inches more rear legroom and 2.1 inches more rear shoulder room than the e-tron GT.

Cargo Capacity

The EQE Sedan has a much larger trunk than the e-tron GT (10.9 vs. 9.2 cubic feet).

Pressing a button automatically lowers the EQE Sedan’s rear seats, to make changing between passengers and cargo easier. The e-tron GT doesn’t offer automatic folding seats.

With its sedan body style, locking rear seatbacks and remote trunk release lockout, the EQE offers cargo security. The e-tron GT’s non-lockable folding seat defeats cargo security.

Ergonomics

Unlike the driver-only memory system in the e-tron GT, the EQE Sedan has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The EQE Sedan’s power window, power lock, power mirror and cruise control switches are lit from behind, making them plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The e-tron GT’s cruise control switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.

Heated windshield washer fluid is optional on the EQE Sedan to defrost the washer nozzles and quickly clear ice and frost from the windshield without scraping. The e-tron GT doesn’t offer heated windshield washer fluid.

Model Availability

The EQE Sedan is available in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations. The e-tron GT doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.

Recommendations

The Mercedes EQE Sedan outsold the Audi e-tron by 67% during 2024.
