The EQE Sedan’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The Ioniq 6 doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

The Mercedes EQE Sedan has a standard driver’s side knee airbag mounted low on the dashboard. The knee airbag helps prevent the driver from sliding under the seatbelts or the main frontal airbag; this keeps the driver better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. A knee airbag also helps keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The Ioniq 6 doesn’t offer knee airbags.

The EQE Sedan has a standard front seat center airbag, which deploys between the driver and front passenger, protecting them from injuries caused by striking each other in serious side impacts. The Ioniq 6 doesn’t offer front seat center airbags.

The EQE Sedan’s standard pretensioning seatbelts also sense rear collisions and remove slack from the seatbelts to help protect the occupants from whiplash and other injuries. The Ioniq 6 doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

The EQE Sedan has a standard Post Collision Brake, which automatically applies the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The Ioniq 6 doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

Earlier warning of stopped traffic, traffic signals, dangerous road conditions, weather, or accidents, can keep driver's safer and prevent crashes. The EQE Sedan has Car-to-X Communication, a system that seamlessly communicates important warnings to the driver about impending danger, if they're available. The Ioniq 6 doesn’t offer a system that can receive automated systems from infrastructure or other vehicles.

Both the EQE Sedan and the Ioniq 6 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

The Mercedes EQE Sedan weighs 719 to 1599 pounds more than the Hyundai Ioniq 6. The NHTSA advises that heavier cars are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

The EQE Sedan AMG’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The Ioniq 6 doesn’t offer launch control.

For better stopping power the EQE Sedan’s brake rotors are larger than those on the Ioniq 6:

The EQE Sedan’s standard front and rear disc brakes are vented to help dissipate heat for shorter stops with less fading. The rear discs on the Ioniq 6 are solid, not vented.

The EQE Sedan AMG offers optional heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The Ioniq 6 doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.

For better traction, the EQE Sedan has larger standard tires than the Ioniq 6 (255/40R20 vs. 225/55R18). The AMG EQE’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Ioniq 6 (F:265/40R20 & R:295/35R20 vs. 245/40R20).

The EQE Sedan’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Ioniq 6 SE’s standard 55 series tires. The EQE Sedan’s optional 255/35R21 front and 285/30R21 rear tires have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile than the Ioniq 6 SEL/Limited’s 40 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the EQE Sedan has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the Ioniq 6 SE. The EQE Sedan’s optional 21-inch wheels are larger than the 20-inch wheels on the Ioniq 6 SEL/Limited.

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires available on the EQE Sedan can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The Ioniq 6 doesn’t offer run-flat tires.

The EQE Sedan offers an available driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads. The Ioniq 6’s suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.

The EQE Sedan has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The EQE Sedan’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The Ioniq 6 doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

The EQE Sedan’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The Ioniq 6 doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the EQE Sedan’s wheelbase is 6.7 inches longer than on the Ioniq 6 (122.8 inches vs. 116.1 inches).

The AMG EQE handles at .99 G’s, while the Ioniq 6 SE pulls only .85 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The AMG EQE executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 3 seconds quicker than the Ioniq 6 SE (23.8 seconds @ .83 average G’s vs. 26.8 seconds @ .67 average G’s).

For better maneuverability, the EQE Sedan w/10° Rear Wheel Steering’s turning circle is 3.7 feet tighter than the Ioniq 6’s (35.1 feet vs. 38.8 feet).

The EQE Sedan has .9 inches more front shoulder room, 1.1 inches more rear headroom and 3.5 inches more rear legroom than the Ioniq 6.

With its sedan body style, locking rear seatbacks and remote trunk release lockout, the EQE offers cargo security. The Ioniq 6’s non-lockable remote release defeats cargo security.

An ASSYST PLUS is standard on the EQE Sedan to save the owner time and money by calculating maintenance intervals based on odometer mileage. This takes the guesswork out of keeping your vehicle in top condition and helps it last longer. Hyundai doesn’t offer a maintenance reminder on the Ioniq 6.

Unlike the driver-only memory seat and mirrors in the Ioniq 6 Limited, the EQE Sedan has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The EQE Sedan’s front and rear power windows all open or close fully with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside the car. The Ioniq 6’s standard passenger windows don’t open or close automatically. With the Ioniq 6 SEL/Limited’s power windows, only the front windows open or close automatically.

The EQE Sedan’s standard power window controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The Ioniq 6’s available power window controls are spread out on the center console where they can’t be seen without the driver completely removing his eyes from the road.

If the windows are left open on the EQE Sedan the driver can close all of them at the outside door handle or from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can lower the windows from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the Ioniq 6 can only close the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The EQE Sedan’s standard Keyless-Go allow you to unlock the doors from any outside door handle, open the trunk, and start the car, all without removing the key from the pocket or purse. Proximity Key standard on the Ioniq 6 doesn’t offer a sensor on the rear doors, so you’ll have to reach a front handle to unlock the rear door.

The EQE Sedan’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The Ioniq 6’s standard manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted.

Heated windshield washer fluid is optional on the EQE Sedan to defrost the washer nozzles and quickly clear ice and frost from the windshield without scraping. The Ioniq 6 doesn’t offer heated windshield washer fluid.

Consumer Reports rated the EQE Sedan’s headlight performance “Good,” a higher rating than the Ioniq 6’s headlights, which were rated “Fair.”

To help drivers avoid possible obstacles, the EQE Sedan has standard cornering lights to illuminate around corners when the turn signals are activated. The Ioniq 6 doesn’t offer cornering lights. The EQE Sedan also offers optional adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle.

The EQE Sedan’s power mirror controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The Ioniq 6’s power mirror controls are on the dash where they are possibly hidden by the steering wheel and are awkward to manipulate.

The EQE Sedan’s standard rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The Ioniq 6 offers an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.

The Mercedes EQE Sedan has power folding mirrors that offer unparalleled convenience while maneuvering in tight places or parked. With the mirrors folded it’s easier to walk past and help prevent parking damage. The mirrors can be quickly unfolded when the driver is ready to leave. Power folding mirrors are only offered on the Ioniq 6 Limited.

Both the EQE Sedan and the Ioniq 6 have standard heated front seats. The EQE Sedan also offers optional heated rear seats to keep those passengers extremely comfortable in the winter. Heated rear seats aren’t available in the Ioniq 6.

The EQE Sedan offers optional massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the Ioniq 6.

The Mercedes EQE Sedan has a standard Homelink wireless remote control system for garage door operation and device management, conveniently located on the rear view mirror. Homelink® eliminates the need for separate garage door openers and associated risks of losing, breaking, or having dead batteries. Hyundai charges extra for Homelink® on the Ioniq 6.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Mercedes EQE has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Only the Ioniq 6 SEL/Limited offers wireless charging.
