Both the eSprinter and ProMaster Cargo Van offer rear cross-traffic warning, but the eSprinter with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert also has Rear Cross Traffic Braking (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The ProMaster Cargo Van’s Rear Cross Path Detection doesn’t automatically brake.

Both the eSprinter and the ProMaster Cargo Van have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, post-collision automatic braking systems, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available blind spot warning systems, around view monitors and driver alert monitors.

The Mercedes eSprinter weighs 1726 to 2192 pounds more than the Ram ProMaster Cargo Van. The NHTSA advises that heavier vehicles are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

The eSprinter comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire van and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The ProMaster Cargo Van’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 14,000 miles sooner.

Mercedes pays for scheduled maintenance on the eSprinter for 4 years and 100,000 miles. Mercedes will pay for tire rotations, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance (up to 4 visits). Ram doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the ProMaster Cargo Van.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Mercedes vehicles are better in initial quality than Ram vehicles. With 8 fewer problems per 100 vehicles, JD Power ranks Mercedes higher than Ram.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ March 2026 Auto Issue reports that Mercedes vehicles are more reliable than Ram vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Mercedes 6 places higher in reliability than Ram.

The eSprinter’s standard electric motor produces 45 lbs.-ft. more torque (295 vs. 250) than the ProMaster Cargo Van’s 3.6 DOHC V6. The eSprinter’s optional electric motor produces 45 lbs.-ft. more torque (295 vs. 250) than the ProMaster Cargo Van’s 3.6 DOHC V6.

Regenerative brakes improve the eSprinter’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The ProMaster Cargo Van doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

The eSprinter, as a pure battery electric vehicle, has no need to “idle” its motors in traffic: they only burn power when moving. The eSprinter’s climate control systems still work completely when the vehicle is stopped. The ProMaster Cargo Van still runs its internal combustion engine whenever it’s stopped, burning excess fuel.

For better traction, the eSprinter has larger tires than the ProMaster Cargo Van (245/75R16 vs. 225/75R16).

The Mercedes eSprinter’s wheels have 6 lugs for longer wheel bearing life, less chance of rotor warping and greater strength. The Ram ProMaster Cargo Van only has 5 wheel lugs per wheel.

The eSprinter has a standard full size spare so a flat doesn’t interrupt your work or a trip. A full size spare costs extra on the ProMaster Cargo Van. Without the option you must depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

The eSprinter has standard front and rear stabilizer bars, which help keep the eSprinter flat and controlled during cornering. The ProMaster Cargo Van’s suspension doesn’t offer a rear stabilizer bar.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the eSprinter’s wheelbase is 26 inches longer than on the ProMaster 1500 SWB (144 inches vs. 118 inches). The eSprinter’s wheelbase is 11 inches longer than on the ProMaster 2500 LWB (170 inches vs. 159 inches).

The eSprinter’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (49% to 51%) than the ProMaster Cargo Van’s (62.3% to 37.7%). This gives the eSprinter more stable handling and braking.

When three different drivers share the eSprinter, the optional memory seats make it convenient for all three. Each setting activates different, customized memories for the driver and front passenger’s seat positions. The ProMaster Cargo Van doesn’t offer memory seats.

The eSprinter’s front power windows open or close with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The ProMaster Cargo Van’s power windows’ switches have to be held the entire time to close them fully.

If the windows are left open on the eSprinter the driver can close all of them from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can also lower the windows the same way. The driver of the ProMaster Cargo Van can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The eSprinter’s optional power passenger’s side sliding door makes it much easier to load and unload kids and cargo. One touch opens the door, before you even get to the van. The ProMaster Cargo Van doesn’t offer a power rear door.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the eSprinter offers an optional rear wiper. The ProMaster Cargo Van doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

The eSprinter’s LED headlights produce a whiter, brighter light (up to 3x) using five times less power than the ProMaster Cargo Van’s standard halogen headlights. LED lights also light instantly and last over twenty times longer than halogen.

The eSprinter has a standard automatic headlight on/off feature. When the ignition is on, the headlights automatically turn on at dusk and off after dawn. The ProMaster Cargo Van only offers an automatic headlight on/off feature as an extra cost option.

The eSprinter has standard power remote mirrors. The ProMaster Cargo Van only comes with remote mirrors at extra cost. Without them the driver will have to roll down the windows and reach across the car to adjust the mirrors.

The eSprinter’s standard outside mirrors include heating elements to clear off the mirrors for better visibility. Ram charges extra for heated mirrors on the ProMaster Cargo Van.

The eSprinter’s standard automatic temperature control maintains the temperature you set, automatically controlling fan speed, vents and temperature to maintain a consistent, comfortable environment. The ProMaster Cargo Van doesn’t offer automatic air conditioning.

A built-in pollen filter removes pollen, exhaust fumes and other pollutants from the eSprinter’s passenger compartment. This helps prevent lung and/or sinus irritation that can trigger allergies or asthma. The ProMaster Cargo Van’s air conditioner doesn’t offer a filtration system.
