The eSprinter has standard driver and passenger side airbags combined with three-point seat belts, a combination which is 29% more effective in preventing injury and death than seatbelts alone. The Rivian Delivery doesn’t offer a passenger side airbag, only driver’s.
For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Mercedes eSprinter are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Rivian Delivery doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.
The eSprinter has standard Post-Collision Brake, which automatically apply the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The Rivian Delivery doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.
Both the eSprinter and Rivian Delivery offer rear cross-traffic warning, but the eSprinter with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert also has Rear Cross Traffic Braking (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The Rivian Delivery’s Rear Cross-Traffic Warning doesn’t automatically brake.
Both the eSprinter and the Rivian Delivery have standard driver’s frontal airbag, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available blind spot warning systems, around view monitors and driver alert monitors.
